Frisson: E♭ Major

Water mirror of the night,
the sky, a silver hush of light.
Beneath the Milky Way we slip,
our breath dissolves into the stars.

Enveloped in a desperate dream,
a fruitful darkness quickening,
floating silhouettes of want,
soft circles fading to the shore.

Holy stillness, do not stir.
Here you belong, belong to her.
A current pulls, but not to me,
still never mine to know.

Let it be— without possession.
Do not disturb the reflection.
Swimming in the promises
that we intend to guard.

Let these hands break like waves,
swell to heal what they crave.
I will to not press my hunger
against the walls of our home.

Warm yourself with the fire,
from a distance you desire.
There is plenty for us both, my friend,
a gift I long to share.

If all my nights stay cold and long,
the part of me that’s you in song,
whose whisper holds a sacred sound,
I’ll keep safe within my heart.
